This product is a plant-based supplement that contains glucoraphanin, which is extracted from broccoli seed. In nature, when broccoli seed/sprout cells break open (when the plant is damaged or eaten) glucoraphanin is released and mixes with a naturally occurring companion enzyme (myrosinase). When these two compounds meet, they form a new substance called sulforaphane (SGS). Most of the broccoli supplements available in the market only contain glucoraphanin and rely on the ability of the gut flora to convert it to sulforaphane. This unique supplement is enzyme activated, so that the conversion to sulforaphane is much more efficient. Sulforaphane is rapidly absorbed, transported systemically in the blood, metabolized, conjugated, and excreted in the urine. In the process of uptake and elimination from the cells, it induces the formation of a variety of detoxifying and antioxidant peptides and proteins that result in effective up-regulation of the body’s natural phase II detoxification enzymes.
