Athleisure is my go-to choice for work now that I work from home full-time. I can only describe the material as delicious: It’s super soft and stretchy, and so comfy that I forgot I was even wearing clothes. I went to the movies in this set, and it felt like I was wearing pajamas. The material is breathable and light, which will be perfect for the upcoming warmer months.
There are a few downsides, however. The pants ($88) are too long on my 5’4″ frame. If I pull them up to be higher-waisted, I get the dreaded front wedgie. But if I leave the pants around my hips, I trip over the wide-leg bottoms. I also did not like how cropped the track jacket ($98) was. I prefer a jacket that’s comfortable but doesn’t show my entire stomach.

This was my first time trying anything from Girlfriend Collective, and I was immediately impressed with how the track pants ($88) fit and felt. I’m 5’3″ and they hit my ideal high-waist height (fully covering my belly button) and have a super soft, weightless feel throughout the roomy, wide-cut legs. At first, they seemed luxurious and worth the high-end athleisure price. I loved how billowy and breezy they were while wearing them around my apartment, but quickly noticed their flaws when wearing them on a walk. They’re just too long, and living in a city where there’s a pile of poop, pee, or trash every couple of feet made me keenly aware of what I could be dragging home with me on the hem of these pants. (I wound up tucking them into my socks just to be safe, which was not a fashionable choice.) These are some of the comfiest pants I’ve worn in a long time, and I expect I’ll enjoy wearing them year-round, but for me, they are most definitely for indoor use only.
The windbreaker ($98) is a bit of a mystery to me. The cropped length is awkward, and it has a slouchy, structureless fit. This is probably due in part to how soft and lightweight the fabric is, which is a plus if you just want a super light layer, but it doesn’t make the jacket feel like it’d be useful in…any kind of weather, really. I do appreciate the number of pockets (two zippered exterior ones and two interior ones), but I wouldn’t trust them to hold anything particularly heavy or valuable because, again, the fabric is so flimsy. In all honesty, I probably won’t use this jacket for more than running to my mailbox in very mild weather.

This was my first time testing Girlfriend Collective apparel, and I was pleasantly surprised by this line’s buttery-soft, lightweight fabric. I’m 5’2″ and normally opt for a loose fit so I tried the windbreaker jacket and shorts in size medium. While the bottoms were a little snug—the inseam is on the shorter side so I felt a little exposed on the back—the jacket fit perfectly. It was also loose enough that I could wear a shirt or a sweatshirt underneath or I could tie the drawstring for a tighter fit. Though I love a matching set, the jacket was easier to wear with just about anything than the shorts, so I know I’ll be reaching for it more in my closet. It’s become my go-to for running errands, walking my dog, or working from home.
